Tropical Storm KETSANA - ONDOY floods Metro Manila
It does not need a typhoon to create havoc.

The tropical storm Ketsana - Ondoy brought great masses of rain over Luzon. Metro Manila got in only 6 hours more rain than usually during the whole month of September.

A top PAGASA official said the level of rainfall is expected to even surpass 391.7 mm average rainfall in Quezon City for the entire month of September.

Television channels speak of at least 52 deaths. Broadcast pictures show people up to the neck in the floods. Others found temporary refuge on the roofs of their houses.

Meanwhile PAGASA lifted all Storm Signals in the Philippines, but warns that more rains will follow as Ondoy exits

[Editor's note: We live in the south of the Philippines (Camiguin). Here we had a little bit of rain. but the tailwinds and amplified monsoon interrupted most ferry connections.]
