No milk today, my love has gone away
The bottle stands forlorn, a symbol of the dawn
No milk today, it seems a common sight
But people passing by don't know the reason why
(...)
This is what we sing these days on Camiguin Island. Milk is out of stock everywhere! And cornflakes with milkpowder for breakfast is a bit dry...
Let's hope that the milkman finds again a ferry to Camiguin.

( 2.9 / 11 )A few minutes ago (at 09:50 pm (UTC+8)) we had an earthquake in Camiguin.
Our house moved in north-south direction during some seconds.
Estimated quake-time were 2 seconds for the main shock and 5 to 8 seconds for the following weaker tremblings.
There are no damages, but the screens on my desk and my chair shaked so strong, that I could not read anymore.

( 2.9 / 21 )Parma (Pepeng) has left the Philippines.
Dry and sunny weather helps people in the north of Luzon to find back to their normal life.
International help is arriving. We learned that little Switzerland alone has collected over 6 millions of CHF (at this moment equal to the same amount in USD) for the people in Asia touched by earthquakes in Samoa and Indonesia and floods in the Philippines and Vietnam.
Fortunately the Pinoy's soul is optimist.
There is a lot of work waiting - do it - now!

( 3.1 / 18 )Who has the highest position in the world?
President Obama?
Nope!
The pope?
Neither!
Do not search anymore, it is
Babou!

Babou Sassi, a young Indian works at 819 meters above ground. It is said that his workplace is also his apartment. It would need too much time to climb up and down every day.
Did you know that thousands of Filipinos work in Dubai?
The OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) contribute substantially to the economy of the Philippines.

( 3.1 / 27 )Some days ago I wrote about my laptop's thermal problem. See here.
The machine got too hot.
Today we had a scheduled brown-out from 08:00 AM thru 06:00 PM. Mo way to work. I decided to investigate my laptop's thermal problem.
First, there were some 38 screws to remove. Some of the screws were a bit tricky to find. But here in the Philippines we have all the time we need.
After having opened the laptop, I saw this:

The fan did work, so I had a look at the airflow. BINGO. See here:

The fibers and death mosquitoes did completely obstruct the airflow through the radiator.
Having encountered temperatures of 88°C (190°F) before, my machine now runs quietly and cool at 63°C (145°F) processor core temperature.

( 2.8 / 32 )Your editor's computer gets too hot.
During the last view days I had 32°C (89°F) in my office. For me it's no problem. I drink up to 3 liters of Calamansi-Juice per day.
But my computer gets overheated (core temperatures of 88°C (190°F) and more).
At this heat, the internal protection shuts off the PC - and I loose the work in progress.
Now I have installed 2 external fans:

One is under the laptop computer and the other one blows from the left.
Wish you a warm day
Your ed.

( 2.8 / 34 )Chez Goldi
"Chez Goldi" is one of the best kept secrets in Camiguin.
"Chez Goldi" is the only restaurant with real European cuisine.
A touch of French "Nouvelle cuisine" completed with some original Italian and Swiss flavors.
Goldi is a passionate chef. If ever possible, he scans the local market already early in the morning. His menu is composed of the best ingredients available. No frozen or industrially produced stuff. Only fresh vegetables, hand selected meat and fish are prepared in his kitchen open to the Bohol Sea.

Goldi receives only on recommendation and only on reservation. Goldi's guests are considered to be friends and are served as only best friends are served. Count at least 2 to 3 hours for a 6 courses lunch.
If you are interested, you may send a request for recommendation with this form.
... and the celebration:

From left, clockwise: Atty. Humphrey Jeffery O. Roxas, Mr. Elmer Dollera, Mr. René Weber (your Ed.), Mrs. Ierene Cortez, Dr. Kurt Reiniger, Dr. Freddy Dollera (MD) and Ariel.
The reason? This is another well kept secret, but we will inform you, as soon as we can show results ...
Keep tuned!
