Eco-Coral Corp. established a working arrangement with the local government of Malay, Aklan, for the deployment of EcoCoral’s artificial reef. Only 2 percent reportedly remain of Boracay’s natural corals.
Eco-Coral, with the Malay government, will deploy a patented, pH-neutral artificial reef that promotes quick coral growth. It will be assembled in various underwater structures, including a grotto.
"We’re raising Boracay’s attractions to the next level," Haresco said. "It will now be possible to get married in Boracay, underwater!"
Eco-Coral’s sister company, Technostrat, plans to deploy an observation platform and "EcoWalker" undersea walking systems.

[Editor's comment:
1. If Aklan's fisherman had not dynamited and cyanided the corals over years, the coral would still be as healthy as they are around other islands.
2. Eco-Coral Corp. and Technostrat will create another tourist attraction on the already overcrowded Boracay Island.
3. When will Boracay collapse? There are already today big problems with water supply and waste management (solid and liquid).

( 3 / 73 )LEGAZPI CITY, Albay
Whalesharks or the butanding in the waters of Donsol town in Sorsogon province will no longer be threatened after the Globe Telecom cancelled the installation of underwater cable as part of its service improvement and expansion.
The cancelation of the 164 underwater cables from Donsol to Calbayog, Northern Samar would preserve the habitat of the friendly whale shark, Salceda said.
It is because of the whale sharks that Donsol has become a popular tourist destination.

( 2.7 / 47 )Three contractors are bidding to fix the White House fence.
One from the Philippines , another from Mexico and an American.
They go with a White House official to examine the fence.
The American contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well", he says. "I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me."
The Mexican contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me."
The Filipino contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the White House official and whispers: "$2,700."
The official, incredulous, says, "What? You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure? How do you expect me to consider your service with that bid??
"Easy," the Pinoy explains, "$1,000 for you, $1,000 for me and we hire the guy from Mexico ".
The next day, the Pinoy and the Mexican are working on the Fence.

( 2.9 / 46 )As usual, when a national holiday falls in the middle of the week, it is moved by presidential decree either to Monday or Friday. So all Pinoys have a long week-end. EDSA one is commemorated on February 25!
The People Power Revolution (also known as the EDSA Revolution and the Philippine Revolution of 1986) was a series of nonviolent and prayerful mass street demonstrations in the Philippines that occurred in 1986.
It is sometimes referred to as the Yellow Revolution due to the presence of yellow ribbons during the arrival of Ninoy Aquino. These protests were the culmination of a long resistance by the people against the 20-year running authoritarian regime of then current president Ferdinand Marcos and made news headlines as "the revolution that surprised the world".
The majority of the demonstrations took place at Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, known more commonly by its acronym EDSA, in Quezon City, Metropolitan Manila and involved over 200,000 Filipino civilians as well as several political, military, and religious figures, such as Jaime Cardinal Sin.
The protests, fueled by a resistance and opposition of years of corrupt governance by Marcos, occurred from February 22 to 25 in 1986, when Marcos fled Malacañang Palace to the United States and conceded to Corazon Aquino as President of the Philippines.

President Arroyo rallied yesterday the nation to revive the spirit of EDSA 1 not through another popular revolt but by way of "boldness" and unity to boost economic growth in the face of global economic downturn.
As the four-day celebration marking the 23rd anniversary of first bloodless revolution kicked off at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City, the President warned anew that mounting another EDSA mass uprising to effect change in government will not be forgiven by the world, saying political...

A number of passengers, who had not fastened their seatbelts, were thrown out of their seats and hit the ceiling. The crew reported about 2-3 injuries via radio, but did not declare emergency. The landing 30 minutes later at 12:19 local (03:19Z) was safe. A total of 38 passengers were injured in the upset and were brought to hospitals.
