UFO crashed in South China Sea ???
No aircraft missing but parts swapping on the shores of Vietnam and the Philippines. What's happening? The explosion must have happened about 8000m /24000ft above ground. Have you seen something? Have you heard a blast? Your comments may help.

Iloilo has the oldest golf course of the Philippines
The Iloilo Golf Club & Country Club was founded in 1907. Over 100 years of sport, leisure and friendship.

The Sta. Barbara Golf Course started as a 9 hole golf course carved from the rolling hills of Sta. Barbara. Today, it is a full A challenging 18 hole golf course (6,056 yardage) nestled in the hills of Sta. Barbara, Iloilo., and plays to a par 70.

Iloilo is really full of surprises. Plan at least 4 days to enjoy all of Iloilo's fine places. There will soon be a special Iloilo page on our site.

Cows are out now
During winter cows in the alps are guarded in the stables. But when snow has gone, they are allowed to get out. This is always a moment of joy for the cows and the folks.
Yesterday evening we celebrated the "Sortie de printemps" at Vetroz.
The cows were happy, jumping when leaving the stable and smelling the fresh grass. People were happy, because of the warm weather and a glass of "Fendant".

Happy cows of "Val d'Hérence"

Cows of the "Val d'Hérence" race do fight. The stake is a good place within the flock during the summer up in the mountains.

Happy Dany and Flow. Fritz is rather cows than girls. Hey Fritz, what about Katja???

Expert talk. Which cow will be the queen of the queens next year (la reine des reines). Come to Valais and live the unique experience. Valais is attractive in summer and winter: SEE VALAIS

Regular readers already know my temporary offices. This time I am in the snow. Only 1550m (some 4500ft). But mid May there is still snow and you have to wear warming cloths.

See you soon under the sun.

Escaped !
Typhoon RAMMASUN-08 has passed by. On May 10 it even had been classified as Super-Typhoon.

Remember "Loleng" (Babs) in October 1998. It first had been classified as "Signal 3" and then transformed into a monster with wind speeds up to 270 kph.

Massage
Traveling can be full of stress. Especially intercontinental flights in the economy class can transform you into a pack of aching muscles.
In most airports of the Philippines you can relax from such a stress. There are "Massage parlors", "Stress Buster" and other possibilities to get a fine massage. Even the shoe cleaners in Manila's NAIA suggest a reflex zone massage after having polished your shoes.

If you have half an hour or more time left, allow you this pleasure for a handful of pesos. Pleasure? Not immediately! When you are stressed, the first manipulation may even hurt. But after some minutes a warm, relaxing feeling comes over your body.

This is the perfect way to transform a silly waiting situation into a healthy, relaxing experience.

Fast changing visa regulations for overstaying
On March 11 the Bureau of Immigration closed its counter at Manila NAIA.
"The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has advised departing foreign tourists that they can update their stay only at the bureau's main and field offices and not at the airports or their ports of exit.
According to the BI chief, he issued the order to prevent the government from being shortchanged as any immigration officer at the airport can charge a foreigner visa extension fees but pocket the money instead of remitting it to the bureau's coffers."

On May 5 the Bureau of Immigration re-opened the counter at Manila NAIA.
"In a move to make immigration rules more-friendly to foreigners, the Bureau of Immigration recently eased requirements on foreign tourists who overstay in the country.
BI Commissioner Marcelino C. Libanan recently issued an order to allow foreigners who overstayed for not more than three days to pay extension fees at the airports. This order amends a rule that extension fees should be paid only at the BI main and field offices and not at the airports. Extension fees are paid by foreign nationals who overstay before they are allowed to leave the country."

OPEN - CLOSE - OPEN - CLOSE - OPEN - ...
Our advice: Get your visa extension before your current visa expires. Best place to get the extension is in a field office and not in Metro Manila.
For a list of BI Field Offices see here: VISA - IMMIGRATION

Where were all the taxis?
When arriving in Manila you usually do not have to wait for a taxi. There are always plenty of them at the airport (domestic terminal).
But what happened today? Arriving passengers did queue up in the middle of the road for about 300 (three hundred) meters.
I think they must have waited for more than an hour in the burning sun around twelve o'clock. I was lucky and could fetch a taxi in the unloading section.

CebuPacifcAir.com keep their customers happy (again)
Stressy Monday morning in Iloilo. There was an incredible traffic jam. I arrived rather late at the airport. But the smiling Cebu-Pacific staff reduced my stress within one minute. And then it happened:
My reservation was not OK. My credit card company did not confirm the payment. But within 5 minutes I had a ticket and a seat. No, not yet.
I did not have enough cash with me. But the girl at the check-in
counter showed me the way to the next ATM. I then could pay with a pack of 100 pesos bills and caught the plane completely relaxed.
In the aircraft there was the usual Cebu-Pacific game. Bambi and Noemy made a great show.
