Read a bus ticket
This is a typical bus ticket from CERES. CERES is active all over the Philippines. Step in and try to find a seat. When the controller looks at you, you tell him where you want to go and he starts to punch holes in a ticket. you get it without paying. Some time later he comes back to collect the fare.
We are always astonished to see how the controllers remember the exact fare of up to 50 people without having a look at the tickets. The trick is: He always punches two tickets. One is given to you and the other one remains in his ticket-book. Clever, isn't it!
Now, how do you read your ticket:
Upper part:
This part indicates the price. On the sample ticket the fee is PHP 51.00
Lower part:
This part indicates your journey. On the sample we start at kilometer 224 and our destination is at kilometer 178.
We do not yet know why we got 2 holes in the student's part (super student, maybe).
So we have spent PHP 51.00 for 46 km.
If the bus should break down during your journey, you are refunded. You get back the exact amount due between the place of breakdown and your destination. You simply have to wait for the next bus.
Any more fares, please...
