Panay Island is one of the larger islands in the central Visayas. Panay Island is divided into 4 provinces: in the north the province of Aklan with its capital Kalibo, in the west the province of Antique with the capital San Jose de Buenavista, in the south the province of Iloilo with the capital of the same name and in the west the province of Capiz with the capital Roxas. Iloilo is the largest city of Panay and has an important port. Visit the Museo Iloilo to get an idea of the history of Panay. In the province of Iloilo you find ancient spanish churches. Kalibo is the second city and is known for its Ati-Atihan festival and as a gateway to Boracay Island.
