Wakeboard, the water equivalent of snowboarding becomes more and more popular. A long time surfers had only a grin for the "wakies", but since this sport has been enriched by world championships, it is recognized as a herd competitive sport. There are basically two places to do wakeboard: Either in open sea or a lake, towed by a fast boat. This allows jumps over the waves from the boat. |
The other way is on lakes with fixed towing installations remembering ski-lifts in the mountains. In the Philippines the Mecca for wakeboarders is near Naga-City with its WWC "Wake Park World".A worldclass site with artificial lakes and state of the art towing installations, bungalows, restaurant and pool. The WWA = World Wakeboard Association helds one of their World Series Championships at this site: |

1. Pili (Camarines Sur) |
Wake Park World is a resort dedicated to wakeboarding. It is composed of artificial lakes with fixed wakboard tow installations. The resort is part of the WWA World Tour. Annually there is a one week championship held with lot of parties and other stunning activities like sky-diving and bikini shows . |

2. Boracay (Aklan) |
There is no watersport that cannot be found on Boracay. Wakeboarders have still to bring in their own equipment. But the motorboats do have enough horsepower for the freakyest expert. This is an interresting site, if you like the extreme sensation. Not only the motorboat produces waves, the natural ocean waves can get extremely tricky even for experts.
