Good News from Camiguin – Super Shuttle Ferry
Good News from Camiguin – the Bohol Ferry is back! After almost a year of interruption, after almost a year of many frustrations of Camiguin residents, and of travelers between Bohol and Camiguin alike, Super Shuttle Ferry has resumed its operations between Balbagon (Camiguin) and Jagna (Bohol).
IMPORTANT: Please read our new article: Camiguin – Bohol with Super Shuttle Ferry 21 with the latest updates, schedules and tariffs.
Many of our guests liked to pass 2 or 3 days in Bohol to visit the Chocolate Hills and Tarsiers or do an island round-trip. Also the 4 hours sea-trip had always been appreciated. Very often one can observe dolphins and flying fishes from the slow ferry’s deck.
The Super Shuttle Ferry leaves Balbagon (Camiguin) at 08:00 a.m. and arrives in Jagna (Bohol) at 12:00 noon. It then leaves Jagna at 01:00 p.m. and arrives around 05:00 p.m. in Balbagon.
At this moment the trip fare starts at PHP 425 (one way). See also our ferry page.
Friends told us that they saw the Super Shuttle Ferry 24 in the port of Balbagon. A bit small, isn’t it.
We do not know for how long the service between Camiguin and Bohol will last. Maybe they will stop again after summer vacation.
Camiguin Island’s Transportation Rates
Camiguin Tourism Office has published the official Camiguin Island’s Transportation Rates as of April 21, 2015.
The idea is good but they missed some important information.
From/to where does the in/out transfer go? We presume that the start/end point is Benoni port. I this correct. Another missing information are the rates for tricycles or motorelas and habal-habal motorbike rides.

I can confirm that the ferry is still running at scheduled time.
And yes, forget to call any ferry company. The published phone numbers are almost cellphone numbers of already fired employees.
Landline phone numbers are either cut or not attended. Only possible contacts are in the ports or sometimes by e-mail.But only sometimes.
Can anyone confirm if the Asian Marine slow-ferry from Jagna to Balbagon is still running on a daily basis? I am looking forward to take it this month. Is it necessary to make reservations? any agents in Bohol?

Sorry, we can’t tell you if the ferry will still be sailing in March.
In the past “Super Shuttle Ferry” cancelled service without prior information.
But there is hope. Easter will be on March 27. During the Holly Week ten thousands of tourists are coming to Camiguin. We do not think that “Super Shuttle Ferry” will miss this business opportunity.

There are about 10 ferries daily between Balingoan and Benoni (Camiguin).
From Balingoan to Benoni from 05:30 AM to 04:30 PM
From Benoni to Balingoan from 04:30 AM to 06:00 PM
The ferries sail about every hour. Between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM there are no ferries from Benoni.

It is UFN meaning until further notice. Super Shuttle Ferry isn’t communicative when it comes to schedules. But we think that the ferry will sail at least until end of summer vacation.

No, Super Shuttle Ferry does not accept reservations. You should be early in the port to catch a ticket.

I don’t know how it’s handled now. Last time the ticket booth opened when the ferry arrived from Camiguin. It’s been the ferry’s staff who sold the tickets. But there are also fixers hanging around whomget the ticket for you for a tip 50 Pesos ore more).
You won’t need to bother about tickets except during coming Holly Week (March 19 to 27). Then all ferries going to Camiguin will be overcrowded and probably overloaded.
Jagna Ticket office opens at 8 a.m. , Balbagon – at 7 a.m.

Yes, the ferry is a RoRo ferry transporting cars and even trucks.

From Balingoan to Benoni we pay PHP 1,331 for car and driver. Add PHP 15 for passenger terminal fee and PHP 129 for RoRo terminal fee. And there is a PHP 2 environmental fee.
From Balbagon to Jagna we do not know the current rates. It’s about 3 years ago when we took the Bohol ferry last time. We then paid PHP 4000 for car and driver plus the usual fees of about 150 pesos.

There are ferries from Baliboan to Benoni and from Balbagon to Jagna.
From Benoni to Balbagon on Camiguin island you need at least 40 to 50 minutes by jeepney or motorela.
Does the 2 shipping lines, servicing the route CdO-Jagna stop? Or why are you saying NO? Anyway thanks for constant updating Jag-Cam info.

Trans Asia changed from Jagna to Tagbilaran.
But Camiguin-Jagna is only Mon, Wed, Fri.
Camiguin-Cebu is still interrupted.

The ferry sails only Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The Super Shuttle Ferry still sails Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

I also called Lita at AMTC. She confirmed the above schedule.
At this moment she could not say if schedules will change during the Lanzones Festival. She told me to call back second week of October.
The guard in the port told me that he heard that the Cebu – Camiguin ferry will soon be available again.
He had heard of a new, modern and big ship that will ply the route. The ship seems even to have an elevator on board. But he didn’t know what company. As soon as I get news, I’ll inform the community.

They do not plan any changes of schedule. So it is still Mon, Wed, Fri.
They also told me that they cannot yet confirm operations in December.

AMTC schedules are at rather short term. This means one or two weeks – not more, sometimes it is tomorrow.
The past years show that trip frequency increased around Xmas/New Year, Holy Week (Easter) and Summer break (March to May).
Living on Camiguin island, we never know if can get away. Sorry, these is the Philippine’s style of life. Tomorrow – maybe.

There are some funny fees like RoRo and Environment.

The ferries operate from 5:30 AM to 4:30 PM. They usualy sail about once per hour.
I do not know the newest tariffs. But we pay 1,400 for a Toyota Innova with driver.
We also have to pay the RoRo fee of 250 Pesos.
I think a motorbike with driver should be between 300 and 400 Pesos.
