Typhoon Phanfone:  Short weather update

Typhoon Phanfone is now of Category 4. It is still moving northwest but will not touch the Philippine islands. Wind speed is now over 70 m/s (135 kt). Typhoon Phanfone is heading towards the Japanese islands of Iwo To. Observed wave heights are 36 feet equal to 12 meters.
