East Mindanao Discovery Trip (1)

Our “East Mindanao Discovery Trip” has been delayed. Since last night 22-Jul-2015 at 07:19 p.m. power supply in Camiguin is interrupted. It seems that a heavy thunderstorm in Misamis Oriental had downed two masts of the power supply line for Camiguin.

We prefer to leave our house in fully working conditions. So we’ve postponed our departure until power is back and stable again here in Camiguin.

East Mindanao Discovery Trip – the map

Our discovery trip will first bring us to Cagayan de Oro. This is less for discovery than for having some appliances being repaired while we are traveling. From “Cee Dee Oh”, it’s how we call Cagayan de Oro here, we’ll drive up to Bukidnon. There we’ll visit the pineapple plantations of Del Monte.

Passing by Malaybalay and Valencia we slowly will progress southwards. Daily driving time will be less than 3 hours. If there is something interesting to see, we’ll stop and stay. Within 3 to 5 days we think to arrive in Davao. We may stay there for 1 to 3 days. We may like the city or not.

From Davao we’ll drive to Mati and explore the two peninsulas in the south. Unfortunately we do not have a 4×4 SUV, so we won’t be able to turn around Governor Generoso peninsula.

And then we drive back north following the East Mindanao Pacific coast. Weather out in the Pacific looks good for now, so we can expect blue sky and blue sea. In Barobo we’ll decide whether to drive to Butuan directly or continue our journey to Surigao. We’ll decide ad-hoc.
