Camiguin: Cebu Pacific Air flights are a great success
The Cebu Pacific Air flights from Cebu to Camiguin are a great success. Cebu Pacific Air started this flights on April 15, 2013. See also here
The 3 weekly flights are always fully booked. This means that the ATR 72-500 brings every week over 200 passengers in less than 40 minutes from Cebu to Camiguin island.
Camiguin airport has no refueling and auxiliary power supply. So the aircraft has to bring enough fuel to fly back to Cebu and to run the on-board generator. The aircraft has a propeller brake (referred to as “Hotel Mode”) that stops the propeller on the #2 (right) engine, allowing the turbine to run and provide air and power to the aircraft without the propeller spinning. A bit noisy but acceptable.
And there are rumors that Cebu Pacific Air will increase the number of weekly flights to 4 (four). It is said that from June 9 they will fly on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This means that you can easily stay in Camiguin for a long and relaxing weekend.
