Enigmata Camiguin – all together against Plastics
Yesterday we wrote about the fire that destroyed the Enigmata Camiguin Treehouse. We promised a look back on their activity. Here it is: All together against Plastics – 2009.
Enigmata Creative Circle, Inc. was registered with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2004 as a non-profit volunteer organization run by cultural workers and artists. Enigmata literally means “to open your eyes” and “enter the journey inwards the creative circles of the mind.”
Enigmata Creativity
One of the most memorable and most seen actions has been the “LUNHAW” in the centre of Mambajao on July 5, 2009. Months before a whole block of buildings had been demolished. We heard that it had been a concentrated action against squatters. In the last six (6) years nothing was built in this place, but a “temporary” makeshift marked was installed meanwhile.
Suddenly plastic trees and wall paintings appeared in the field of rubbles and ruins.
Very early the Enigmata team did understand the ecological impact of plastics. The long lifespan of plastics make them dangerous for sea and land life. Many of the chemicals used in plastics are dangerous to any life.
A day’s harvest of plastic bottles disposed in nature!
A symbolic “back to nature” of the debris from the thorn down buildings.
Up to now, no plants have grown in this field of debris. A market was installed.
Enigmata Website alive
After a short interruption yesterday, the Enigmata website is back on-line. You may want to visit their photo gallery with pictures from the treehouse.
We wish you all the best and hope that you could rescue as much as possible. And we hopefully look forward to a new beginning.
