Tropical Depression Carina

Tropical Depression Carina (SIX-16) has started to get organized east of Samar. GDACS has issued an orange tropical cyclone warning for the Philippines and China.

The satellite images show the concentration process east of Samar. Here in the south, Camiguin, we already have the third day of rainy and windy weather. At this moment wind speeds are around 55 km/h and rainfall is up to 250 mm/24h.

SATURDAY EVENING: TD SIX-16 /Carina becomes a Tropical Storm (TS) as it moves across the north-western part of the Central-East Philippine Sea. At 8 p.m. it will be about 357 km east-southeast of Casiguran, Aurora with wind-speeds up to 85 km/h.

SUNDAY EVENING: TD SIX-16 /Carina makes landfall over the northern tip of Cagayan valley.  It reaches Typhoon Intensity with wind-speeds up to 110 km/h. Landfall will happen about 33 km south-southeast of Santa Ana, Cagayanaround 8 p.m.

MONDAY EVENING: Already outside of PAR TD SIX-16 /Carina will move as a typhoon towards Hong Kong and continental China.
