Typhoon USAGI / Odette upgraded to Category 2
Typhoon USAGI / Odette is now a Category 2 Typhoon after it rapidly intensified overnight while over the Philippine Sea. The storm also increased its forward speed to 15 km/h in direction west-southwest.
CAUTION: This typhoon will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Hanging Habagat). In Camiguin we just measured gusts of 75 km/h and noticed heavy rainfall.
PAGASA has declared Storm Signal #1 in:
- Batanes Group of Islands
- Apayao
- Isabela
- Cagayan including Calayan
- Babuyan Group of Islands.
3 dams have spill gates open: Ambuklao, Binga, Magat.
Ambuklao dam has only 26 centimeters left before overflow.
