Wondering why you can’t contact the phones at the Manila International Airport Authority offices?

Telephones at the MIAA offices, including the Airport Dignitaries Lounge and Airport Public Affairs Office, have been unreachable for the past three weeks.

In an interview with ABS-CBN, MIAA general manager Jose Angel Honrado admitted there is a problem with their telephone system.

He said he had already written a formal letter to Philippine Long Distance Telephone president Napoleon Nazareno asking the telecom  company to check the airport’s problems with their telephone system.

Honrado said they cannot repair the problem by themselves since their action should be coordinated with PLDT.

Honrado apologized to the public for the inconvenience caused by the phone problem. He advised the public to monitor the airlines’ websites to check flight information.

Engineer Joey Llobrera, OIC of the Airport Electronics and Communications, said an average of 1500 calls are received by the MIAA every day to about 700 trunk lines using 150 lines of PLDT.

However, Llobrera said he met with PLDT’s technical people on December 17, but the telephone interconnection problem was still being traced.
