Is Tropical Storm RUMBIA/Gorio becoming a Typhoon?
I am not sure, but when I checked the latest satellite images, I had the feeling that the storm is developing an eye. None of the meteorological agencies has yet informed about this development. Look at the last 2 pictures of the animation below.
Japan’s JMA predicts a minimum core pressure of 990 hPa. This won’t be enough for a typhoon. But the Hong Kong observatory is at least expecting RUMBIA/Gorio to become a “Severe Tropical Storm”.
The conditions for an increase of strength are given by water temperatures of 31°C/89°F.
We’ll come back to this storm tomorrow morning.
