Tropical Storm USAGI / Odette has now typhoon potential

Tropical Storm USAGI / Odette increased its wind speed to 102 km/h near the center and gusts up to 148 km/h. Current core pressure is 980 hPa and JMA predicts a central pressure down to 950 hPa on Saturday.
The storm is still hovering over the Philippine Sea about 770 km east of Tuguegarao City. The storm moves with less than 7 km/h westwards. Tropical Storm USAGI / Odette has the potential to become a typhoon Cat.1 tonight or early tomorrow morning.
Tropical Storm USAGI / Odette enhances the south-west monsoon (Habagat). All day over we had strong south-western winds in Camiguin. The sea is rather rough with waves up to 1.50 meters.
