Violent Typhoon VONGFONG / Ompong
Violent Typhoon VONGFONG / Ompong has reachd Category 5 and is a Super Typhoon now. It’s central pressure is incredibly low at 900 hPa. Wind speed near the center is up to 220 km/h and gusts are up to 305 km/h. This violent giant is now moving west-northwest at 15 km/h.

All forecasts predict that violent typhoon VONGFONG / Ompong will turn northwards today or early tomorrow morning. It then will again menace Japan who already had been struck by PHANFONE / Neneng.
If forecasts are correct, the Philippine islands will not directly be hit. But typhoon VONGFONG / Ompong is so big rain that the western outer rain-bands may touch Luzon. The suction of this typhoon is also extremely strong. It already amplifies the western air stream and brings cloudy weather to Mindanao.
